"Everyone's situation is unique, and everyone has dealt with the isolation and social distancing differently. But through all the struggles in sacrifice, it's important to remember that we're all in this together, and that we will all be there for each other when this is over. We are the light at the end of this tunnel."

Behnaz F. 00:30
Hello everyone, my name is Behnaz. I would like to read a poem from the Persian mathematician, astronomer, philosopher and poet Umar Khayyam. If only one of your breaths passes life, Do not allow it to pass except in cheerfulness. Be warned, because life is the capital you trade in the world And this life passes the way you let is pass

Brooke G. 00:33
Hello, my name is Brooke and I'm 23 years old and I'm from Cambridge, Ontario. This summer I have the privilege of starting my own community service project. Project Brown Bag was a project where I distributed brown paper bags to members of the community, and ask them to fill it with non perishable school snacks for kids. We then drop these bags off with the Cambridge Self Help Food Bank and help children starting off in the school year. It was an amazing project in a way that I could help with my community. I'm so grateful. Thank you.

Silence. Did you know that you are a peaceful being of silence and light? This temporary world is simply that - it's temporary. You are forever. Love is forever. All of that is accessible within.

Another day. Another day in our rooms. Means another day to play with you Make pancakes by the windowsill without worrying about the window chill You’ll do your homework after class, with cookies, and an orange glass. Make 1000 piece puzzle, and a couch cushion tunnel. Mom will wash her hands and take off her mask She's home from work with questions to ask and we'll tell her what fun we had inside all day.

Hello, my name is Eva, and I'm a local artist. I live in Kitchener, and I love to paint. I have painted a flower. It's called Homer Watson Yellow Flower. Some say yellow flowers bring joy and happiness. Even though so much has been taken from us, yet we still need to see and feel beautiful things at the end of the day. They’re still here. Just look around and you might find something. It's beautiful as you are. I wish you all the best – joy, laughter, lots and lots of love and beautiful colours around you.

Janet S. 00:40
Hello Waterloo, it's Janet here to take part in the Community Happiness Project. I work at the Waterloo Public Library, where, of course, like all of you we're under the province wide shutdown. But we've still got lots going on. You can do curbside pickup, you can order a book bundle - course we always have our digital library, you might want to ask us a local history or tech related question. And of course we've got lots of great virtual programs happening at the library. Here's a good one - popular 90s Music Bingo Social Night. Alright everybody, You take care of hope see you soon.

Hi, I just wanted to let you know that everything in your life is going exactly according to plan. You might not feel like you're doing enough. And maybe everything in your life is a mess. And maybe everything in your life is really difficult right now. But your journey is your own. So stop comparing yourself and your successes and your accomplishments and what's going on in your life to other people. They're doing their own thing. And you have your own adventure, and it's not going to be the same as theirs. It's just not. This is a reminder to also trust the unseen. Because you have no idea what connections are being made right now that will benefit you in the future. You don't know who is thinking about you at this very second. Even though you can't see it doesn't mean it isn't happening. There's a lot going on in the unseen that you are not aware of. So take a deep breath and calm down. Don't stress out. Don't compare. don't envy another person's life. Because your life is going exactly according to plan.

Hey you, I know there's a lot going on in the world. But I just want you to stop and take a laughing break. Call your favorite friend or put on your favorite show. And laugh your heart out. And forget everything that's going on around you. You deserve it. You are valuable. You wake up every day and get the job done. Therefore, just take the time to take care of yourself and as a community, we're here for you too.

I took a walk in Waterloo Park I was alone, ya I was in the dark Then I saw a light on in each house And I realized, I’m not alone Each light on in each window is a home I’m not alone No matter how much I might feel like I’m on my own. Don’t worry together, we’ll get through this.

The strength of our community does not diminish when we cannot see it. It does not diminish when we are faced with fleeing the safety of hearts we know so well. It does not diminish when isolation threatens to isolate parts of us we've isolated long ago. For the strength of our community is in its boundless reach from neighbor to neighbor, city to city. Our strength is in the people we seek to help and console, to hug and to hold through every virtual meet. Our strength is shown in the communities we complete.

Majority of dogs have the same mental ability as a two year old child. I guess that's what my dog and son always love playing together.

Sometimes our animals know when we need a break and force it on us. Because no matter how busy you may be, if your cat is on your lap, you can never disturb them.

this is what holding the sofa hostage looks like until we head out for a walk at Betchel Park. Not sure who's training who.

I feel sorry for people who don't have dogs I hear they have to pick up food they drop on the floor.

I want to say to you that you're never alone. That beginning again and starting over - it's never too late to do that. You can always do it. You can do it. And if midway through starting over, you think maybe you don't want to anymore. That's okay too. That being courageous and being brave is also sometimes knowing when to rest.

Casey 00:52
Hi! I know it's been a really, really, really hard year. But you know, we've all been going through it. I struggle with mental illness with bipolar. And I've been feeling really alone lately. And it's when my friends and loved ones people in my life have opened up to me and said they're also struggling that has made me feel stronger in a weird way. Because I know that they know what was going on. And it makes me feel less alone. And just know that your struggle and what you're dealing with right now does have value. So be loud and be proud that you've survived all of this, and made it this far. Because you will be rewarded and you will uplift other people in your life. Take care, and much love - enjoy the sunshine.

I hope you dream big, forgive with your whole heart, love deeply and passionately and own your life's journey. Live in compassion, give before you receive, smile, because you're still here. Have a beautiful day.

Mayah 00:50
Hi everyone, it's Mayah. I'm a Laurier student and I just wanted to put good vibes out there into the community and let everyone know whether you're a student or not that I'm thinking of you. And that I just have so much empathy and compassion towards what you're going through. I want to let you know that you're loved and that there's hope to come and to give yourself the permission to acknowledge how hard things have been and not try to mask that with positivity, but to also realize that there are things to look forward to. And yeah, just about your loved by someone for sure and definitely by me, so take good care of yourself.

Natalie 01:13
I just want to say, if you're having a tough day, I just want you to know that you're so loved. You're so valued, you're so needed, you're special. You're needed on this earth, and you've been wonderfully and fearfully made here for purpose. And I just want to pray for you. So, Dear God, I just ask that you wrap this person in your love. Help them know that they're cared for and that you can turn this day around for them and that they can know that they are loved. Help them be able to feel the support of their community around them, even if they feel lonely right now, if they feel hurting right now. Let them know that they're loved. And fill them with a warmth and a comfort that comes from you. And comes from believing and hoping for a future that is better than what we're in right now. What we're doing right now. Thank you for your goodness. And I just pray for this person that they feel your kindness and your love, and your passion and that they can know that they are worthy of all these good things and all the good things to come. Amen. And have a wonderful day. And just know you're so special. And so awesome. And so, so worthy of love.

Hi! I know things seem hard sometimes but they do get better. And the sun will shine and there will always be some smiles somewhere and know that someone always loves you. I love everyone and we will get through this together. I love you all. Bye.

You are my sunshine. My only sunshine. You make me happy when skies are gray. You'll never know dear how much I love you. Just please don't take my sunshine away. You are my sunshine. My only sunshine. When things are gray, you look to me. I don't know how you do it to me, but please don't take my sunshine away.

Trees give us shade. They help us breathe. Among them, I am happy. A tree canopy in an urban muni cipality is so important. Where do you go to be around trees? I love going to Betchel Park which is right in the heart of Ward five.

Join the movement to transform plastic bags and sleeping mats. Good for the environment. Everyone may help. COVID-19 safe. Do at home during the pandemic. It's inexpensive and gives sleeping surface to people experiencing homelessness. Everybody wins. Message recorded by the city of Waterloo.
